“I’m enjoying my freshman year at Lawrence Tech. It is a lot of hard work to transition from Fine Arts to Transportation Design, which I did not know a lot about. But I feel that learning something so new has helped me to grow as an artist. I meet many new challenges, but am improving and getting better. I’m really very happy with what I am doing right now and enjoying it every single day.” – 2012 Scholarship Recipient, Elizaveta Bondarenko
Since 1982, Paint Creek Center for the Arts has been nurturing aspiring young artists through its college scholarship program. We know the importance of a quality art education and our scholarships help students with the ever-rising cost of tuition. Open to graduating high school seniors who are planning to enroll in a college fine arts program, the two $1000 scholarships are available to students from Oakland, Macomb and Wayne Counties. Two winners will be selected after a competitive review of digital images and support materials. Students need not be enrolled in classes at PCCA to be eligible.

In 2012, the scholarship recipients were Andrew Schultz of Lake Orion and Elizaveta Bondarenko of Troy. Both Andrew and Elizaveta were awarded their scholarships on June 8, 2012 at the PCCA Student & Faculty Show where they were able to display their work in PCCA’s Main Gallery. The awards were presented during the Opening Reception with an audience of art-lovers, community members and friends. Andrew attended the College of Creative Studies in Fall 2012 where he intended on majoring in Advertising Design with the goal of becoming an art director. Elizaveta is a graduate of Troy High School, and she began attending Lawrence Technological University in Fall 2012 where her intended major is Transportation Design.
2014 scholarship recipients will be invited to exhibit one of their works in PCCA’s Student & Faculty Show June 6 – 20, 2014. Awards will be presented during the Student & Faculty Show Opening Reception, Friday, June 6, 2014 from 7pm-9pm. The opening reception is free and open to the public, so please come out and show your support for our scholarship recipients.
