2013 Exhibition Season
2013 is an exciting year for exhibitions at Paint Creek Center for the Arts that began with a retrospective show of over 75 artists spanning thirty years of exhibition history at PCCA. The season continues with a photographic medley of artists, abstract paintings in both galleries, the popular works in all media Student & Faculty Show, a show using the animal kingdom as subject matter, one featuring artist-made dioramas and a found object show with a focus on fish.

Main & First Floor Galleries: PCCA 1982 – 2012: Art Endures – Thirty Years & Counting
Over 75 artists were invited to participate in this exhibition featuring artwork spanning thirty years of exhibitions at PCCA. This celebratory show filled both our Main and First Floor Galleries with works in all media, including oil and acrylic paintings, watercolors, mixed media, photographs, ceramics, glass, sculpture and more.

Main Gallery: WiFi/LoFi
Detroit area artists Andrew Kopietz, Loralei Byatt, Lisa Steichmann, Hiroko Lancour and Clare Fox exhibit photographs made using cell phone cameras, toy cameras and pinhole cameras, and alternative photographic processes.

First Floor Gallery: Scott Northrup: Names & Faces
Scott Northrup presents double exposure Polaroids, cross-stitched notes and scanned prints that function as self-portraits, personal landmarks, and mash notes to the American Dream.

Main Gallery: Abstract Michigan Group Show
First Floor Gallery: Pier Wright – Small Abstract Paintings
Pier Wright is a former instructor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and the owner of Wright Gallery in Northport, Michigan. PCCA is proud to feature a solo exhibit of his small abstract paintings.

Main Gallery: Anamalia Group Show
Azucena Nava-Moreno, Jennifer Bostek Salazar, Krysti Spence, Jim Grogan, Chris Zagacki and Matthew Hanna feature artworks in all media using the animal kingdom as subject matter. Playful, surreal, straightforward representational, this group of artists each have different ways of creating works that draw on animals for inspiration.
First Floor Gallery: Vic Vicini – Pop Paintings
Vic Vicini is an accomplished painter who creates highly focused paintings using toys, comic books and other pop culture elements in vivid still life compositions.

Main Gallery: Constructed Realities – Artist’s Dioramas
Michael McGillis, Adrian Hatfield, Christopher Schneider, Scott Northrup, JenClare Gawaran, Azucena Nava-Moreno and Cyrus Karimipour deal with the idea of dioramas. Working in various media and with personal subject matter, they create their own environments, or photograph found or constructed diorama set-ups.
First Floor Gallery: Sandi Wheaton – The Salton Sea
Accomplished photographer, Sandi Wheaton, concentrates on land use and human intervention in the landscape. This series of photographs is concerned with the precarious state of the Salton Sea; an environmentally sensitive area in the southern California desert that resulted from an engineering mishap.

Stephen Palmer creates whimsical sculptures of fish using a variety of found objects and reclaimed elements.
