About the Classes at PCCA

The art classes at PCCA are a great way to not only nurture your creative self, but to have fun while doing so. From first timer to advanced, PCCA is a place for aspiring and experienced artists to learn through painting, drawing, ceramics, photography, multi-media and more! Our studio art classes are available for all ages, and run Mondays-Saturdays during the Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Where to go?

    All of our classes are held in our art studios located in the downtown PCCA building. Class drop-off & pick-up takes place in our main lobby (unless otherwise noted by staff, class instructor or signage). When you arrive, go to the front desk and a friendly face can help direct you to the correct studio.

  2. What do we do in class?

    PCCA offers classes for all age groups and skill levels. For “First Timer”/Beginner, and Intermediate classes, daily activities include guided and themed art lessons. Some more advanced classes may not receive guided lessons at the beginning of each class, but may still be given class work or project instruction throughout the class time. Independent Study classes and Open Studio time will have an instructor on-site and available, but should not expect project assignments. Classes may also include demonstration videos, onsite gallery visits, group projects and critiques,  etc.

  3. Do I need to bring anything?

    This varies from class to class. Generally speaking, supplies and materials will be provided for children’s courses, from Pre-K to Youth level. High School students may need to provide some supplies. Adult classes are required to bring their own materials and supplies. If enrollment does not include materials, a supply list will be provided for you at registration.

    *Adult Ceramic class fees include clay and glaze supplies provided by PCCA. If you would like specialty glazes, or to bring in special molds for your use in the studio, please email Holly @[email protected] to make sure your supplies match our kiln cone.

  4. I've never taken a class before, do I have to become a Member?

    No problem! We understand that not everyone wants to become a Member before they take a class. Typically, an adult student will see their Membership pay for itself when you enroll in your second class. So go ahead, give us a try. When you fall in love with that drawing/painting/ceramic/photography class and want to try it again (or take something new!) we’ll be here with that discount.

  5. Class Payments

    While we would love to be able to reserve seats in our studios for free, all class fees are due at time of registration to guarantee your time with the instructor. PCCA also likes to keep it’s class sizes small, so courses tend to fill up quickly. Waiting to see if a class will run, might also mean you miss the boat.

  6. Cancellation Policy

    PCCA makes every effort to maintain the class schedule as offered online and in the catalog. However, we reserve the right to cancel any class not meeting minimum enrollment, combine courses, and substitute faculty when necessary. Class cancellations are decided at least 2 business days prior to the scheduled start date.

  7. Refunds and Credits

    Fees are 100% refundable if PCCA cancels a camp due to insufficient enrollment. Refunds (less a $25 processing fee) will be given ONLY when a registrant withdraws from a class at least one week prior to the first class session. NO CASH REFUNDS WILL BE MADE AFTER THE ONE WEEK DEADLINE. In addition, there are no refunds for missed class sessions. Memberships are non-refundable, as they are a tax deductible donation to PCCA.

  8. Schedule Adjustments

    To ensure each student, regardless of skill level or age, gets the most one-on-one instructor time as possible, class enrollment is limited. We make every effort to maintain our class capacity, but we understand that sometimes life happens. Adjustments to your class enrollment (like switching out of one class and into another, or dropping out completely) must be made a week or more prior to your registered camp start date to receive a full refund.

  9. Late Pick-Up Policy

    Dropping off your child and picking them back up from class should be easy. If you’re running more than 5 minutes behind schedule, we ask that a courtesy call be made to our front office to keep all staff, students, and faculty in the loop.

    If someone other than yourself is picking up your child, we ask that you please let PCCA know before hand. An email, phone call, or written note is preferred. If your child is walking or biking home alone, please notify PCCA staff and their instructor. The safety of our students is our number one concern.

    Unfortunately, due to the back-to-back class schedule, consistent late pickup of child(ren) may result in a $5 penalty fee per 10 minute delay.
